Civita Castellana

A trip in the land of Falisci

This visit we’ll take place in Civita Castellana, that in ancient times was called Falerii and was the most important centre of the civilization of Falisci, a popoulation quite similar to the Etruscans. Here we’ll visit the Museum of the territory, housed in the Sangallo rock, a great example of Renaissance defensive building realized by the will of Pope Alessandro VI Borgia. The museum shows the rests of the Falisci population found inside the rupestrian necropolis of this area of Tuscia. After leaving the museum we’ll visit another important building of this town, the Cathedral embellished by a superb porch and a floor both decorated by the Cosmati artists.
